Iowa’s News Now WeatherFirst team awarded three regional Emmy Awards

MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota — Iowa’s News Now was awarded three Emmy Awards from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences’ Upper Midwest Chapter. All three were for outstanding work by the WeatherFirst team in the past year. Meteorologist Nick Stewart was awarded a statue for Outstanding Achievement as a Weather Anchor. Nick was also awarded the Emmy for Outstanding Achievement in Long or Short Form Weather Content for our special “Marshalltown Tornado: In Their Own Words.” Finally, Meteorologists Rebecca Kopelman, Sara Flynn, and the entire Iowa’s News Now team was awarded Outstanding Achievement in Breaking News for coverage of the Iowa Derecho as it happened on August 10, 2020.

“We are so fortunate to have the best weather team in Iowa.” Said News Director Kristen Hamilton. “Their dedication and talent is unmatched. Kudos to the work they do day in and day out to keep their neighbors safe.”
